As a society member, you’re part of a statewide professional association that is dedicated to serving the CPA profession. Available to you are various benefits and opportunities – from networking to money-saving discounts.
While you’re busy tending to business, the Society is busy looking after your interests – monitoring legislative proposals, watching for issues that might harm the profession, speaking out in your interest. We also maintain contact with the AICPA, congressional leaders, the Tax Department. Your society promotes the CPA image in the market, through the purchase of media advertising. Your membership directly supports this kind of activity.
We provide classes, conferences, the annual convention and web programs with discounted prices for members. The website shows course listings and links to self study providers. In house education is also available. Our seminar leaders come from throughout the nation, and rank well in participant evaluations. The spring Management Conference and fall Convention provide numerous programs on a variety of topics, plus opportunity for networking.
Our conferences, classes, volunteer activities, and local chapters are opportunities to connect with other CPAs. You may find someone to help solve a problem, or maybe ever a new customer.
Through the newsletter, website, convention, and other correspondence, we keep you informed of current happenings and changes on a state and national basis. You will also find news of Society committees, CPE, career opportunities and available publications.
We reach out to high school students, exposing them to the opportunities and create awareness of the CPA profession. We have a student recruitment DVD available for use with high school presentations showing them accounting is about more than just numbers. We also reach out to colleges and promote careers as a CPA to accounting students.
We can help you find staff members with NO COST ad space in the newsletter and on our website Career Opportunities page.
The association website brings you news about the profession, education, etc.
By helping with a volunteer group, you can expand your network of CPAs – giving you people to contact for specific questions you may face. You get experience working in a volunteer setting. By leading a committee, you can gain leadership experience. Your volunteer role gives you a chance to give something back to the profession. The Society also has a mentor program for new CPAs.
