NORTH DAKOTA CPA SOCIETY FOUNDATIONThe Society Foundation is a 501-C-3 entity, which makes scholarship awards available to accounting students enrolled at eight area colleges. The Foundation originally bore the name of R.D. Koppenhaver, who was chair of the UND Accounting Department for many years, and served as secretary/treasurer of the CPA Society until 1980. Recipients must be enrolled at a state or border city college (one of the eight funded by the Foundation), planning to write the CPA exam within the following 12 months, and be a well-rounded individual (strong grades, plus involved in extra- curricular activity). One or more scholarships are awarded annually. Baldwin & Shirley Martz ScholarshipThe award is to be based on a recommendation from the accounting department leader at Minot State University, who should take the following items into account: Brent G. Hovdestad CPA ScholarshipThe award is to be presented to a sophomore or upper class student majoring in accounting at the University of North Dakota. A grade point of at least 3.0 is required. Academics, character and civic and/or school involvement is to be considered. Financial need is not a criteria of the award. Eldon Reinke ScholarshipThis award is presented to an accounting major who is a second semester junior or higher at the time of the award. Stanley N. Sandvik ScholarshipThe award is presented to a UND accounting student who is planning to sit for the CPA exam within twelve months from the date of the award. ND Endowment ScholarshipRecipients must be enrolled at a state or border city college (one of the eight funded by the Foundation), planning to write the CPA exam within the following 12 months, and be a well-rounded individual (strong grades, plus involved in extra- curricular activity).
