Accounting Manager

Performs various accounting duties according to dealership policy and procedures, including coordinating and preparing financial information and reports. Represents the Accounting Department as a contact for accounting questions and collaborative support.

You’ll focus on: 

o    Prepares various monthly, quarterly, or annual financial reports or statements

o    Reconciles and oversees applicable John Deere accounts in the general ledger (John Deere statements, warranty, misc debits/credits, etc.)

o    Records routine or recurring transactions including complete goods sales, recurring entries, intercompany entries, or adjusting entries

o    Reviews complete goods purchase orders ensuring information is accurate prior to recording the sale, or works with sales team to help resolve issues

o    Oversees accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring accuracy of records and workflow is maintained

o    Reviews and verifies transactions to ensure proper classification/coding and makes necessary corrections and/or adjustments as needed to ensure general ledger accuracy

o    Examines accounting information, traces, and reconciles unusual variances or discrepancies

o    Assists with month-end and year-end closing processes including reconciliation of key accounts

o    Assists compiling necessary information for regulatory and external audits

o    Assist with compliance reporting to federal, state, and local agencies

o    Continually identify and help implement process improvements

o    Assists in evaluating and implementing new or modified accounting systems to provide complete and accurate reporting

o    Communicates with others in the organization to answer accounting questions or resolve issues

o    Assists other departments to understand the impact of processes on financial reporting and train department personnel when appropriate

o    May manage team members in the accounting department

o    Performs other duties and special projects as assigned or requested

What we are looking for:

o    5+ years of accounting experience

o    Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance discipline required

o    Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

o    Knowledge of accounting systems and fundamental financial reporting systems

o    Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ability to manipulate data

o    Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to use standard desktop applications

o    High level of attention to detail and accuracy

o    Excellent communication and collaboration skills
