Speaker Lineup

Ron Haugen 

Ron Haugen is a Farm Management Specialist with North Dakota State University Extension based in Fargo, ND. He received a A.S. degree in Computer Programming from North Dakota State School of Science, a B.S. degree in Agricultural Economics from North Dakota State University with minors in Business Administration and Agronomy, and a M.S. degree in Agricultural Economics from North Dakota State University. He specializes in farm management topics including: government farm programs, estimated crop budgets, custom rates, crop insurance, land rents, commodity price projections, machinery economics, income tax, property tax, long-term farm viability and short-term farm cash flow. He is available to answer questions from producers and Extension agents.

Roger McEowen

Roger A. McEowen is the Professor of Agricultural Law and Taxation at Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kansas.Prof. McEowen conducts approximately 80-100 seminars annually across the United States for farmers, agricultural business professionals, lawyers, and other tax professionals. He also conducts two radio programs each airing twice monthly heard across the Midwest and on the worldwide web. He is a member of the Iowa and Kansas Bar Associations and is admitted to practice in Nebraska. He is also a past member of the AALA Board of Directors.

Bryon Parman, Ph.D.

Bryon Parman is an agricultural finance specialist with NDSU Extension and an assistant professor in the Department of Agribusiness and Applied Economics at North Dakota State University. He identifies financial issues faced by North Dakota farmers and livestock producers and works to develop programs that help keep North Dakota agriculture financially healthy. 

Paul Neiffer 

Paul Neiffer is a certified public accountant and business advisor specializing in income taxation, accounting services, and succession planning for farmers and agribusiness processors. Paul is a principal with CliftonLarsonAllen in Walla Walla, Washington, as well as a regular speaker at national conferences and contributor at agweb.com. Raised on a farm in central Washington, he has been immersed in the ag industry his entire life, including the last 30 years professionally. Paul and his wife purchase an 180 acre ranch in 2016 and enjoy keeping it full of animals.


Austin Burby

Austin Burby is a principal in the Agribusiness group in CLA’s Madison, Wisconsin office. Austin spends the majority of his time providing specialized tax services for farm service/supply cooperatives, privately held grain elevators, feed mills, and farm producers to effectively manage their taxes and plan for succession/ transition. He also works extensively with our Private Client Tax group, providing a variety of services for high net worth individuals including estate, gift, trust and complex individual tax preparation, planning, and research.
